Je me languis de voir le film moi aussi. Il a l'air trop trop bien

avec la mort tragique d'heath, michelle est devenu plus populaire et du coup son film aussi qui parle d'une femme qui perd son mari,et comme michelle vient de perdre heath,le pére de sa petite fille.

les critiques sont exellentes sur la prestation de michelle,bien avant le drame,j'ai lu qu'on disait que la performance de michelle était l'interprétation de l'année

The screening I went to on Monday seemed to spark a lot of interest (spotted in the audience were Christine Vachon, Ron Yerxa, Albert Berger, and Elvis Mitchell); afterward, I spoke with director Sharon Maguire (Bridget Jones’s Diary) about how people who have lost someone in their lives could really connect with what Williams' character was going through. "Somehow we always tend to talk about grief in the abstract. Her very point is to make people understand that it's not in the abstract. It's a very real thing."
Maguire added that the death of her father at the age of 18 was a source of inspiration. "I grew up Catholic...and I was caught up in that whole dichotomy of like, 'He’s gone somewhere better, but his cardigan is still hanging up in the bathroom and I can smell it. Is he in heaven? Is there a heaven? He's not coming back, I know that much.' Death is very final."
When celebrities die in heartbreaking circumstances, people who don't care for Hollywood say things like, "Who cares, we lose people every day and nobody makes a fuss about them." 'Tis true. But we don't know everybody — or at least it’s impossible to feel like we do in the same vein that a spectacular performance makes us feel connected to an actor. Incendiary is a film about recovering from a tragic loss, and with that, our thoughts go out to Williams, their daughter, friends, family — and just anybody who felt like they knew Ledger.
(Williams was not scheduled to be in Park City, according to the film’s publicist; on Wednesday she arrived in Brooklyn, at the home she once shared with Ledger.)

Based on the book by Chris Cleave, Incendiary follows a grieving mother (Michelle Williams) as she attempts to come to terms with a terrorist bombing that takes the life of her husband and young son. Some have criticized the book for taking advantage of the London bombings, however it was written before that attack and even arrived in bookstores on that same day. Bridget Jones's Diary director Sharon Maguire takes the helm here, bringing us a daunting multi-layered story that begins with a bang (no pun intended), but then slowly falls apart when it doesn't have time to tie up loose ends.

The entire film is wrapped around a letter our main character, an unnamed "Young Mother", is writing to Osama Bin Laden. During a football match, terrorists set off a number of bombs and crumble the stadium. At that exact moment, "Young Mother" is having sex with someone who is not her husband; a journalist named Jasper Black (Ewan McGregor) who she meets one night while feeling alone, deflated and emotionless due to her husband's long hours on the job as a bomb expert. But it's not just his job; he doesn't pay much attention to his wife at all -- he ignores her, never touches her and has seemingly drained whatever ounce of love was left between them.


And that's the first act -- the most compelling piece of Incendiary, because from that point on there are some nuggets of gold (William's performance, for starters), but they're few and far between. Thanks to a tip from her journalist kind-of-f*ck-buddy, "Young Mother" finds out the name of one suicide bomber, and subsequently tracks down his wife and son; slowly becoming obsessed with the latter. In between that subplot, one of her husband's married co-workers develops a help-save-the-wounded-widow crush on "Young Mother" while Jasper Black continues to remain in the picture out of either guilt, love or both.
"Young Mother" jumps in and out of each side story, completely unattached to life around her. She misses her son. She regrets cheating on her husband. She asks: "Is it possible to love and betray at the same time." Though as our main character slowly loses her mind, so goes the story as well. An overly-long fantasy sequence (in which "Young Mother" becomes convinced her son is still alive and living with her) takes the place of a few plot points that needed to be wrapped up. Instead, the character and the movie just sort of disappear into this weird time-waster before we pop out into a late reveal that, like the ones before it, never gets explained.
All that being said, Williams is magnificent in her role -- though they beat the living hell out of her, to a point where it almost becomes ridiculous. Her British accent is flawless, coupled with the long hair and weight loss -- you'd have no idea it was Williams playing the part. I haven't read the book, nor have I lost a loved one in a terrorist attack, but I have to imagine the tremendous amount of grief displayed here is accurate. Another half hour to wrap things up would've been nice, but as it stands Incendiary has one of the best first acts I've seen at the festival so far. Too bad the same can't be said for the rest of it.

How did Michelle Williams come to the project?

I had seen Michelle Williams in Me Without You, a British independent film, and her accent was so good I thought she was a Brit! When I saw her in Brokeback Mountain
I thought how well this English actress had done….(I’d never seen
Dawson’s Creek). But to me the accent thing is secondary. Her
understanding of the role is the main thing. I hoped I’d find someone
who, like me, was a new mother and Michelle had just had a little girl.
She was such a luminous talent, she has a raw sensitivity to the world.
She loves a flawed character. She was exactly what I’d imagined so it
was fantastic that she said yes straight away.

Do you have a particular method of working with actors on set or in rehearsal, or is every circumstance different?

I guess I like them to spend time out in the world, in the ‘world’ of
their character. Renee spent 2 weeks working ‘undercover’ in a
publishers. And Michelle spent a lot of time in London hanging around
the East End of the city, in pubs and cafes and playcentres with other
young mothers, absorbing the accent, the culture.

She also spent a significant amount of time off-set with Sid, who plays her son in the movie.

The rest of the time is sitting and chatting with the actors over
coffee and trying the lines. At these times, I hope the actors will
feel free to experiment with stuff, with the lines, with how to stage
scenes. I love it when they find something different. Obviously it
doesn’t always work out, but at least, we discovered that beforehand.

If things need to become more physical in rehearsal, then they do. Hugh
Grant and Colin Firth needed to experiment with the ‘staging’ of their
fight for that particular scene. So they got to their feet and tried
different things out, while I sat back and tried to judge what was
“funny” or ‘not so funny.

Sometimes I video stuff in rehearsal, to give myself a chance of
looking at rehearsals later to see which way I’m headed.

With Incendiary,
we had very little time and money for formal rehearsal, just 3 days in
a room with lots of coffee. But I had spent time out with Michelle and
Ewan and Matthew, chatting informally about their characters.

Wow, ça m'en bouche un coin, 3 films avec Michelle à Cannes et la même année!J'espère qu'on va vite avoir pleins de news concernant ces films!
Et j'essaie de ne pas me faire trop d'espoirs mais avec 3 films à Cannes, on pourrait penser que Michelle pourrait être présente à Cannes...En tout cas je l'espère et là, on serait vraiment gâtés!

Là je me dis qu'il y'a vraiment des chances que Michelle soit à Cannes, en plus c'est un festival assez prestigieux.

j'ai super hate,c'est a partir du 16 que incendiary et mammoth seront presenter,mais je pense pas que michelle y soit attendu enfin je sais pas,etant donner que c'est pas une premiére,c'est juste pour les acheteurs,en revanche elle est attendu a partir du 22 pour synecdoche et wendy and lucy

Ah je savais pas que Incendiary et Mammoth c'était juste pour les acheteurs (enfin Mammoth j'aurais du m'en douté). En fait c'est surtout qu'il va bien falloir qu'elle fasse la promo d'un de ses films, et le fait d'aller à Cannes ça serait bien, pour sa carrière.

J'ai aussi hate de connaitre les critiques sur tout ses films, en espérant qu'elles seront meilleures que pour Deception. Mais je pense ça a l'air d'être des films plus sensibles.

j'espere qu'elle sera là aussi, c'est une occasion en or le festival de canne.
tout le monde ne jure que pour ce festival.
tous les acteurs américains veulent tous au moins monter les marches un jour et ce serait une bonne expérience pour elle après ce début d'année catastrophique.
